Day One – Arrival Day and La Valtellina: Apple Orchards, Vineyards, and Mountain Views!

Upon arrival, you’ll have time to settle into Italy’s first Eco Mobility Hotel, your 'home' for the next seven nights. The hotel is a beautifully restored residence from the 1500s. In the early evening, we will explore the picturesque Tirano township and later dine at a local restaurant, where you’ll begin your journey through the regional “mountain cuisine.” This includes creamy cheeses, Bresaola, a buckwheat pasta dish called Pizzoccheri della Valtellina, all complemented by the local Chiavennasca-based wines—made from the Nebbiolo grape, the same used to make Barolo in Piedmont’s Langhe region.
Day Two – Switzerland: A Walk in the Verdant Valley of Poschiavo and Lake Poschiavo, Alongside the Last Stage of the Bernina Express
Switzerland – Poschiavo – Lake Poschiavo Walk – Bernina Express Train Ride – Walk 12 km (Downhill/Flat)

Our day begins with a stunning train ride along the lower part of the Bernina Express route into Switzerland. We start our walk in the charming village of Poschiavo, featuring stately villas and beautiful old houses. From here, we’ll walk part of the final stage of the Bernina Express route, which offers breathtaking panoramic views. As you hike, you’ll encounter the crystal-clear waters of Lake Poschiavo, surrounded by majestic mountains. The well-marked path around the lake provides a picturesque route for our adventure. Today, we’ll picnic beside Lake Poschiavo, encircled by the Swiss Alps. In the evening, we’ll enjoy dinner together in the ‘old town’ of Tirano.
Day Three – Lake Como: Experience the Majesty of Italy’s Most Beautiful Lake
Lake Como – Varenna – Bellagio (No Walk Day)

Today, we visit Lake Como, one of the most beautiful lakes in Europe, described by poet Percy Shelley as “surpassing in beauty everything I have ever seen.” Among the famous individuals who have graced the shores of the lake, both past and present, are George Clooney, Gianni Versace, and even Pliny the Younger in the first century AD! Our day begins with a train ride to Varenna, spending the day in the central section of the lake, exploring the towns of Varenna and Bellagio. After your ferry crossing from Varenna to Bellagio, you can enjoy lunch in one of the many eateries in Bellagio beside the lake.
Day Four – Walk Amongst the ‘Heroic’ Viticulture of Valtellina and Step Back in Time with a Memorable Lunch
Rhaetian Terraced Vineyards – Lunch at a Beautifully Restored Former Contrada – Walk 8 km (Undulating with Steep Ascents and Descents)

Walking amongst the terraced vineyards on the lower slopes of Valtellina, you will truly appreciate the hard work that goes into cultivating this land. With its stone terraces, vineyards, and apple orchards, it is a delightful and rewarding walk that will surely build up a great appetite for our memorable lunch! Today, we step back in time to an era when peasants lived hard lives along these steep slopes. This former abandoned farmhouse (Contrada) has been beautifully restored and is now a renowned restaurant and hotel. After lunch, we will walk back to Tirano and enjoy a free afternoon and evening exploring the town.
Day Five – Tirano to St. Moritz: Experience Stunning Scenery Along the Bernina Express Line on the Trenino Rosso
Bernina Express Railway (UNESCO World Heritage-listed) – St. Moritz, Switzerland – Tirano (No Walk Day)

Today is a very special day, so don't forget your passports and cameras. This morning, you will depart from Tirano on the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Bernina Express railway for a day in the Swiss Alps! Enjoy the magnificent views of the mountains as the train meanders through numerous valleys and passes, climbing to a height of 2,252 meters above sea level! This unique train ride is one of the most spectacular railway journeys in the world. Spend a couple of hours in St. Moritz, soaking in the lakeside ambience of this classic Swiss mountain resort. Prepare your cameras again for the return journey to Tirano. In the evening, we’ll enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, where you can discuss the day's adventures over a glass of fine wine and delicious regional cuisine. After returning from St. Moritz, we will gather to enjoy a pizza at one of our favourite pizzerias in Tirano.
Day Six – (Walk in the Larch Forest of the Alpine Mountains and relax with a spa experience dating back 1000 years)
Beautiful Bormio alpine forest walk – Optional Spa visit to Bagni Vecchi - Walk - 21km with slight ascent/descent

Today we visit the charming Alpine town of Bormio, located at the beginning of the breathtaking Stelvio Pass. Our walk meanders along a paved path that follows the Adda and Viola Bormina rivers. The sounds of running water, bird calls, cowbells, and the odd marmot whistle make it a fun and relaxing walk. This path takes us through Alpine forests, that include Larch, Ash, Firs, Pines, Hazelnut trees, and a myriad of wildflowers. We pause to picnic along the way and take in the majesty of the mountains around us. Bormio is famous for its 9 natural thermal springs, which makes it the largest thermal spring centre in the Alps and a destination for visitors from all over Europe since 500 AD. In the afternoon you can enjoy an extraordinary rejuvenating experience at the QC Terme Bagni Vecchi Spa (Optional). Bagni Vecchi has a history spanning more than two thousand years, from the Roman baths to the centuries-old caves leading to one of the thousand-year-old springs, to the panoramic swimming pool. Take your time and enjoy the blissful atmosphere!
Day Seven – Walk the Valtellina Valley Floor, Dine at the Foothills of the Mortirolo Pass, and Enjoy a Wine Tasting, Cellar Visit, and Aperitivi Farewell Meal
Tirano – Tovo Sant'Agata – Aperitivi – 19 km (Flat Walk)

Today we take a walk along the Valtellina Valley, following the Adda River and surrounded by terraced vineyards and apple orchards. We head to a small town at the base of Mount Mortirolo, known for the challenging Mortirolo Pass, a demanding climb in professional road bicycle racing, frequently used in the Giro d'Italia. Lunch consists of traditional fare with local wine in a friendly atmosphere. After lunch, we walk back to Tirano, where you will have time to relax before our final meal. For our farewell meal, we visit an Enoteca to enjoy Aperitivi with a wine tasting and cellar visit.
Day Eight – Farewell Day

Today we bid a fond farewell to the captivating Valtellina as you set off for your next destination or return flight home. (Drop off at Tirano Station).
