Day One – (Arrival Day and La Valtellina - Apple orchards, vineyards, and mountains as far as the eye can see!)

Arrival: Pick up location - Tirano Train Station

Upon arrival, you'll have time to settle into the first Eco Mobility Hotel in Italy, which will be your 'home' for the next 5 nights. The hotel is a beautifully restored residence from the 1500s. In the early evening, we will explore the picturesque Tirano township and later dine at a local restaurant. This marks the beginning of your journey through the regional "mountain cuisine", which includes creamy cheeses, bresaola, a buckwheat pasta dish called Pizzoccheri della Valtellina, all washed down with the local Chiavennasca-based red wines (made from the Nebbiolo grape, which are also used to make Barolo in Piedmont's Langhe region).

Day Two – (Tirano to St Moritz - Stunning scenery along the Bernina Express line on the Trenino Rosso)

Today is a very special day. Don't forget to bring your passports and cameras because in the morning you will be heading to Switzerland! We depart from Tirano on the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Bernina Express railway for a day out in the Swiss Alps. You will enjoy magnificent views of the mountains as the train meanders through a multitude of valleys, passes, and climbs up to a height of 2252 meters above sea level. This special train ride is one of the most spectacular railway journeys in the world. You will then be able to enjoy some time in St. Moritz, soaking up the lakeside ambience that this classic Swiss mountain resort has to offer. Later you will take the train journey back to Tirano and we will enjoy dinner together at a local restaurant where we can discuss the day's adventures over a glass of wine or beer and delicious regional food.

Day Three – (Lake Como - Varenna - Bellagio)

Lake Como and the Majesty of Italy's most beautiful lake!

Today, we are visiting Lake Como, which is known as one of the most beautiful lakes in Europe. The poet Percy Shelley described it as "surpassing in beauty everything I have ever seen hitherto". Over the years, famous people such as George Clooney, Gianni Versace, and Pliny the Younger from the first century AD have visited its shores. We'll start our day with a train ride from Tirano to Varenna and spend the day in the central section of the lake, known as the Larian Triangle. After our arrival and morning coffee at Varenna, you will embark on a ferry ride to the stunning town of Bellagio, commonly referred to as the Jewel of Lake Como. After your ferry crossing, you can enjoy a free lunch in one of the many eateries in Bellagio beside the Lake. Later in the afternoon, we return to Tirano for a free evening.

Day Four – (Winery Tour- Tasting - Traditional Valtellina lunch)

Today we embark on a tour of a historical winery set amongst stunning vineyards and breathtaking mountain views. This morning's winery visit includes a guided tour of the vineyard and historic cellar, followed by an aperitivo featuring traditional Valtellina cold cuts and cheeses, and a guided wine-tasting session. Lunch follows at a nearby restaurant and will consist of a choice of authentic Valtellina dishes accompanied by some fantastic local wine. Today you have a free afternoon and evening to explore the town of Tirano.

Day Five - (Transition - Milan - Varzi)

Enjoy an afternoon in the fashion capital of Milan.

Today, we will begin our day with a scenic train ride to the heart of Milan, a city that offers a mix of history, culture, and culinary delights. As we depart from Tirano by train, you can enjoy the views of the mountains and Lake Como without the burden of your luggage, as it will be transported straight to our next lodging by car. Upon our arrival in Milan, we take a leisurely break to enjoy lunch at your leisure while soaking in the city's vibrant atmosphere. Later, we will head to the medieval hamlet of Varzi, where your accommodation awaits. In the evening, we will come together to enjoy a delicious dinner at a local pizzeria, setting the perfect tone for the adventures ahead.

Day Six – (Market Day - Lunch in the Apennine foothills- Walk the backroads and country lanes)

Explore the local Varzi market and savour a first-class lunch in the hills above Varzi!

Today starts with a visit to the local Varzi market where you'll see a variety of delicious produce and other goods for sale. The market, or "mercato," was once a place for trading cattle and fresh produce. Farmers from the nearby hills would come together once a week to trade their goods and socialize with friends and fellow farmers. For lunch, we dine at a delightful local restaurant in the foothills of the Apennine Mountain ranges. The afternoon is enjoyed walking off a long lunch down country lanes. The rest of the afternoon and evening is yours to enjoy in Varzi.

Day Seven – (Wining and Dining Day in the Oltrepo Pavese wine region)

Winery tour and tasting in a family-run winery and rustic lunch with views that stretch for miles!

Today, we spend the morning in the hills of the Oltrepò Pavese wine region which is home to almost 500 producers and some very enjoyable vino! We visit an artisan, family-run winery for a tour and wine tasting. The owners, Sara, Stefania, and Carlo Padroggi are passionate about their business, and their flagship wine is their Metodo Classico sparkling 100% Pinot Noir white wine. For lunch today we head to a nearby restaurant in the Montalto Pavese hills where we sample some home-style regional cuisine and local wine. After lunch, we return to Varzi for a relaxing afternoon/evening.

Day Eight – (Fine Dining and Natural Beauty Day)

Walk above the Trebbia Valley to the medieval town of Bobbio, with its famous Roman bridge and ancient Monastery. Lunch in style with a history going back 4 generations.

Today begins with a scenic drive to nearby Mount Penice, where we begin our morning stroll. We will wind our way along quiet backroads, passing fields, forests, and a couple of small hamlets until we reach the hillside town of Santa Maria. We'll then be shuttled down to Bobbio by van for our lunch together. This 3km walk offers amazing views of the vast Trebbia Valley, and our lunch is in Bobbio's elegant "Il Piacentino" restaurant. It's very well known for its delicious antipasti and primi (pasta dishes). After lunch, you can explore this little gem of a town. Two beautiful churches, a centuries-old monastery, and a beautiful Roman Bridge full of character, are just some of the delights of Bobbio waiting to be discovered! Upon our return to Varzi, we meet again in the early evening for our farewell aperitivo in Varzi!

Day Nine - (Farewell Day)

Departure for Milan Malpensa Airport or Voghera train station - End of Tour

Today, we bid farewell to the beautiful rolling hills of Piedmont and Lombardy After breakfast, you will be transported to Milan's Malpensa Airport or the train station at Voghera. Alternatively, you can arrange for your transportation for your onward journey. Arrivederci!
